Mariner 9 (2012) presents a panoramic view of the Mars landscape hundreds of years in the future. Created with software used by the film and gaming industries, and using data from NASA’s missions to Mars, the Canadian artist Kelly Richardson has created a realistic representation of the surface of Mars covered by the debris of centuries of exploration.

Last year, shortly before Covid-19 emerged, artists were invited to create works inspired by the first Aerogramme, introduced into the Iraqi postal service in 1933, for LPW's sixth international mini print exhibition. This November, after some delay caused by the pandemic, these printed images from the global printmaking community will be available to see online through our very first virtual gallery.

The Idle Index is an exhibition and online project featuring screensavers created by artists from, or with links to, Leicester. Screensavers have persisted as a common feature of digital devices long after their original purpose has become obsolete. They now serve as a reminder of our own inactivity, prompting us to continue working, browsing, watching or shopping. The Idle Index places artworks into the forgotten corners of our digital space to explore ideas of work, leisure, and usefulness.

Exhibition centred around a newly-commissioned film by Leeds-based artist Karanjit Panesar.

The film Actor, Container uses a narrative structure called a ‘strange loop’; a device that involves multiple levels of reality that are nested inside each other.

The work comes out of an ongoing investigation into the relationship between insides and outsides, a fascination with the idea of ‘behind-the-scenes’, and what these things can tell us about truth, agency and authenticity.
